Railway Bridge Near Qila Sheikhupura Damaged by Floodwaters, Train Operations Between Lahore and Faisalabad Suspended

Badr and Ghori Express Cancelled, Routes of Shalimar, Karakoram and Mianwali Express Changed; Passengers Advised to Check Latest Train Schedule Before Traveling

FAISALABAD (Mian Iftikhar Ahmad): Train operations between Lahore and Faisalabad have been temporarily suspended after a railway bridge located between Qila Sheikhupura and Masan Kallar was damaged due to severe flooding and unusually heavy rainfall. To ensure the safety of passengers and maintain secure railway operations, Pakistan Railways has introduced immediate contingency measures, under which some trains have been cancelled while the routes of several major passenger trains have been diverted. According to the revised schedule, 111-Up/112-Down Badr Express and 113-Up/114-Down Ghori Express have been cancelled. Similarly, 27-Up/28-Down Shalimar Express and 41-Up/42-Down Karakoram Express will now operate via Raiwind and Sahiwal, while 147-Up/148-Down Mianwali Express, running between Lahore and Mianwali, has been diverted via Lala Musa. Railway authorities stated that a detailed technical inspection of the affected bridge is underway, with engineering teams assessing the extent of the damage and carrying out restoration work to ensure the track is made safe and train services are resumed at the earliest. Officials further said that the flood situation and weather conditions are being closely monitored, and additional operational changes may be introduced if required. Passengers have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and to check the latest status, route, and departure schedule of their respective trains before leaving for railway stations in order to avoid inconvenience.
