Yousuf Dewan Companies Chairman Meets Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Discuss Trade and Investment
ISLAMABAD: Chairman of Yousuf Dewan Companies, Mr. Dewan Muhammad Yousuf Farooqui, met His Excellency Alisher Tukhtaev, Ambassador of Uzbekistan, in Islamabad to discuss opportunities for expanding bilateral trade, investment, and business partnerships between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
The meeting focused on potential cooperation across several sectors, including livestock, agriculture, sugar refining, precast and prefabricated construction, and business opportunities associated with Uzbekistan’s New Tashkent development project.
Both sides also reviewed challenges affecting regional trade, particularly disruptions to overland transit routes and high freight costs. The discussion highlighted the importance of reliable transportation links, stronger engagement between relevant institutions, and practical measures to facilitate cross-border commercial activities.
Pharmaceutical cooperation and regulatory coordination were also discussed as potential areas for strengthening economic ties and facilitating business collaboration between the two countries.
The participants further highlighted the longstanding historical and cultural connections between Pakistan and Uzbekistan, noting their potential to support tourism and broader economic cooperation.
The meeting reflected a shared interest in translating the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and Uzbekistan into practical commercial opportunities. Greater institutional coordination, improved trade connectivity, and sustained engagement between businesses were identified as important elements in strengthening bilateral economic relations.
