Jamaat-e-Islami Condemns Death Threats Against Dr Hassan Rana, Seeks Justice
Lahore :
Advisor to the Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Dr. Fareed Ahmad Paracha, has strongly condemned the alleged death threats issued to TV anchorperson Dr. Hassan Rana by members of the Qadiani group. He urged law enforcement agencies to take immediate notice of the anti-Islam activities of the group, as well as the harassment and death threats directed at Dr. Hassan Rana, and to register a criminal case against those responsible.
Dr. Paracha stated that the Constitution of Pakistan declares Qadianis a non-Muslim minority. He said that those who challenge the doctrine of the Finality of Prophethood cannot be allowed to propagate what he described as their false faith. He added that preventing such propagation and taking legal action against violations of the law is the responsibility of constitutional institutions, a duty which, he said, is not being fully discharged.
He further said that Dr. Hassan Rana is a responsible citizen and a television anchorperson, and that ensuring the protection of his life, property, dignity, and honor is the responsibility of the state and the government.
Dr. Fareed Ahmad Paracha emphasized that Jamaat-e-Islami is prepared to make every sacrifice for the protection of the belief in the Finality of Prophethood. He demanded the immediate arrest of those involved in issuing threats, registration of a case against them, and exemplary punishment in accordance with the law so that such elements may not find an opportunity to create unrest in the future.
