Sit-in Continues Against Ziarat Tragedy, Opposition Leader Mehmood Khan Achakzai Strongly Condemns Government Incompetence
Quetta (Syed Sardar Mohammad Khondai)
Addressing the ongoing protest sit-in against the Ziarat tragedy, Opposition Leader and Chairman of Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, Mehmood Khan Achakzai, said that the brutality with which our children were martyred is unprecedented.
He said that police personnel and officers were sent to Mangi Dam in a state of helplessness and without resources, and handed over to terrorists. The Pashtun nation should not be provoked; this nation has a thousand-year history of great courage, this nation knows well how to defend itself and its homeland.
Mehmood Khan Achakzai said that the only way to save Pakistan lies in the supremacy of the Constitution and strengthening the Parliament. When our institutions turn assembly elections into a marketplace and a single seat is sold for crores of rupees, then the country’s situation will remain this grave.
He announced that every single drop of blood of the martyrs of Ziarat will have to be accounted for. From the DC to the Chief Secretary, all those who sent the police to Mangi without weapons and arms are murderers, an FIR should be registered against them.
The Opposition Leader said that it is the unanimous decision of the opposition parties that the Sarfraz Bugti government should resign, this government must go home. The Chief Minister and the Prime Minister have no authority to hold talks, they are powerless rulers, there will be no talks with them. Our children are not so cheap that they can be killed in this manner. Those who had sent these police personnel should have resigned themselves, otherwise those responsible should have dismissed them.
He further said that first our children were martyred and then acid was thrown on them, they will have to account for this. After consultation with the Baloch people, the protest will be further expanded, this sit-in will continue.
Mehmood Khan Achakzai said that trade is closed at the Chaman border, the people there should also restart the sit-in after consultation. Our proposal is that Pakistan should convene a meeting of its neighboring countries under the leadership of the United Nations; if terrorism is proven against Afghanistan, then we will all be with you, however, the freedom of the neighbor must be respected.
He said that the manner in which the bodies were brought to Quetta, not even a butcher treats goats like that, all those people will have to account for it. War has been imposed on Pashtunkhwa Watan. By sending 50 dead bodies, we were considered so dishonorable that we would sell ourselves for money. If the families need it, the nation itself will give this 12 million rupees to the bereaved families.
In the end, he said that I have come with the message of the opposition, the opposition leadership stands with you. Let the sit-in give a date, there will be protests all over Pakistan. My proposal is that these sit-ins should be held in front of the Deputy Commissioner offices in every district.
