Faisalabad: In a major move to strengthen the city’s sanitation system under the Suthra Punjab Programme, the Faisalabad Waste Management Company (FWMC) has terminated with immediate effect, the contract of Care Services Consortium (CSC), a private company responsible for providing solid waste management services in the city. The company’s performance guarantee has also been confiscated.
Managing Director of Suthra Punjab Agency Faisalabad Abid Hussain Bhatti said that providing quality sanitation services to citizens is among the top priorities of the Punjab Government and that negligence, inefficiency or poor performance would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
According to an official notification, the decision to terminate the contract was taken due to the company’s persistent poor performance, operational shortcomings, failure to achieve sanitation targets and inability to improve despite repeated warnings and directives.
FWMC stated that several show-cause notices and default notices had previously been issued to Care Services Consortium, directing the company to improve cleanliness standards, increase manpower and machinery and meet the prescribed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). However, no significant improvement was observed within the stipulated time.
Monitoring reports also highlighted multiple violations, including a shortage of sanitation staff, insufficient machinery, operational deficiencies and failure to meet performance benchmarks. The notification further stated that the contract termination would take effect immediately and that additional legal and administrative action could also be initiated against the company.
Abid Hussain Bhatti assured that the city’s sanitation operations would continue without disruption and that alternative arrangements would be made to ensure uninterrupted cleaning services for residents. He also appealed to citizens to cooperate, emphasizing that a clean Faisalabad is a shared responsibility of both the government and the public.
