Lahore: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to hold the opening ceremony of the ICC Champions Trophy in Lahore.

According to sources, the opening ceremony will take place on February 16 at Hazuri Bagh in Lahore.

The opening match of the ICC Champions Trophy is scheduled for February 19 in Karachi, with the matches being broadcast live on Ten Sports.

Sources further revealed that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has finalized the schedule for the opening events, and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has given final approval for all the ceremonies.

The construction work at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore is nearing completion, and it is expected that the opening ceremony of the stadium will be held on February 7. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to be the chief guest at the event.

Additionally, sources confirmed that PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has invited Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to the stadium’s opening ceremony, which will feature a laser show.

It has also been decided that the inauguration of the new building at National Stadium Karachi will take place on February 11, with President Asif Ali Zardari expected to attend as the chief guest.
