Faisal Moledina Says BCC Begins a Powerful New Chapter in Canadian Cricket History

The Brampton Cricket Championship (BCC) – 100 Ball League was officially inaugurated in Canada in a grand and spectacular ceremony held in Brampton, where cricket lovers, community leaders, former international and local cricketers, government officials, business personalities, youth, and families gathered to celebrate the growing popularity of cricket across Canada.

BCC Directors Muhammad Faisal Moledina and Tariq Parvez warmly welcomed the guests and shared their vision for the future of cricket in Canada.

Faisal Moledina stated that the launch of the Brampton Cricket Championship marks the beginning of a powerful new chapter in Canada’s sports history. He said the tournament will bring exciting cricket entertainment to Brampton during the summer season and will feature 12 strong teams competing in more than 100 thrilling matches from May 20, 2026, to October 4, 2026.

He further explained that all BCC matches will be played across six cricket grounds in Brampton, with more than 60 percent of the games scheduled under floodlights to create a professional and energetic atmosphere for players and spectators alike.

Faisal Moledina announced that the championship-winning team will receive a cash prize of $5,000 along with the prestigious BCC Trophy. He added that “Man of the Match” awards, cricket equipment, and special prizes will also be distributed regularly to encourage and support emerging local cricket talent.

Tariq Parvez stated that the Brampton Cricket Championship will prove to be an outstanding league for the promotion of cricket in Canada. He explained that BCC is a Not-For-Profit Corporation established under Canadian law and is committed not only to sports but also to youth empowerment, community service, diversity, charitable activities, and social development.

He added that cricket is among the most popular sports globally and its fan base in Canada is growing rapidly because communities from Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, the Caribbean, and many other countries bring extraordinary passion and talent to the game.

Deputy Mayor of Brampton Harkirat Singh congratulated Muhammad Faisal Moledina and Tariq Parvez for launching the league. He said the City of Brampton is continuously improving cricket infrastructure, facilities, and opportunities so young players can turn their dreams into professional careers.

He praised Faisal Moledina for his dedication and honest work for the cricket community and assured full support from the city for such positive initiatives.

Canada’s Foreign Minister Anita Anand also sent her best wishes for the Brampton Cricket Championship. Although she was on an official visit outside Canada, her representative Mr. Onurcan Gokkaya attended the event from Ottawa and delivered remarks on her behalf.

Renowned Brampton community figure Ms. Urze Heer also attended the ceremony and actively participated in presenting recognition awards to sponsors and delegates. She praised the efforts of both BCC Directors and expressed her support for the league.

On the occasion, Faisal Moledina and Tariq Parvez presented commemorative shields and recognition awards to sponsors, volunteers, journalists, community workers, and individuals who rendered selfless services for the promotion of cricket and community welfare.

The atmosphere became even more vibrant when renowned Pakistani singer Amanat Ali delivered a mesmerizing musical performance that transformed the evening into a memorable celebration of culture, music, and unity.

One of the most historic moments of the event was the grand unveiling of the BCC Trophy along with the cake-cutting ceremony, symbolizing the beginning of a new era of cricket in Brampton and across Canada.

The BCC management also honored senior journalist Mr. Latafat Siddiqui in recognition of his long-standing services in journalism.

It was also announced that DTVNN Canada will provide live broadcast coverage for all matches of the BCC 100 Balls League.
